Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about your care.

Safety, Legality & Certifications

Is BetterYu legitimate?

Yes. BetterYu is LegitScript certified — the compliance standard the major search and ad platforms require before they’ll run online healthcare at all. Every prescription is written by a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner and dispensed by an FDA-regulated sterile compounding pharmacy.

The brand was co-founded by an established medical practice: Dr. Anthony Didato, DMD, Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and Richelle Bonacia, MBA/MHA — the same team behind Atlanta’s Balanced Aesthetics + Wellness. You’re working with a licensed clinical operation, not an anonymous vendor.

What does LegitScript certification mean?

LegitScript is the leading verification program for healthcare businesses operating online. Certification means an independent third party has audited BetterYu’s licensing, prescribing practices, pharmacy quality, and transparency against a strict standard.

It matters because Google, Meta, and Bing require LegitScript certification before they’ll allow healthcare advertising at all. In a category with a lot of bad actors, it’s one of the clearest signals that you’re looking at a legitimate operation.

Who is the pharmacy that fills my prescription?

BetterYu prescriptions are filled by an FDA-regulated sterile compounding pharmacy that meets USP <797> standards and its state board’s requirements. The pharmacy runs sterility, potency, and endotoxin testing on each batch.

We don’t publish the pharmacy’s name, because pharmacy partnerships can change — but every order is filled to the same FDA-regulated standard, every time.

Are BetterYu’s therapies FDA-approved?

Many are compounded preparations — individually prepared by an FDA-regulated sterile compounding pharmacy under your provider’s prescription. Compounded medications aren’t the same as FDA-approved finished drugs, but they’re produced under FDA pharmacy regulation and dispensed legally.

Regulatory status can change over time, so your provider works from the current standing and explains how it applies to your specific protocol.

Is BetterYu’s therapy safe?

Therapies prescribed by a licensed provider and dispensed by a regulated pharmacy have a well-studied safety profile when used correctly. Like any prescription, side effects are possible — the most common are minor, such as injection-site redness, mild flushing, or short-term changes in appetite or sleep.

Your provider reviews the specific risk profile of your protocol before prescribing, and adjusts or pauses it if needed. Safety here comes from a provider monitoring your case and a pharmacy testing every batch.

Who should not use BetterYu therapy?

Some people aren’t candidates for therapy — including women who are pregnant or nursing, people with active or recent cancer, certain endocrine or other medical conditions, and anyone taking specific contraindicated medications.

Your medical intake captures the relevant history, and your provider tells you if a contraindication applies in your case. If BetterYu isn’t the right fit, you’re not charged for a prescription that isn’t issued.

Getting Started & Eligibility

Who can use BetterYu?

BetterYu is for adults 18 and older living in one of the 29 states where we’re licensed. Every patient completes a medical intake, and a licensed provider reviews your case to decide whether therapy is clinically appropriate before any prescription is written.

Some health conditions make therapy a poor fit — your provider will tell you if that’s the case for you, and you’re never charged for a prescription that isn’t issued.

How do I get started?

Pick the wellness category that matches your goal, complete the medical intake form, and a licensed provider reviews your case. If you’re a good candidate, the provider issues a prescription and an FDA-regulated pharmacy ships your pre-measured pen to your door.

Most people finish intake in under 15 minutes. From there, it’s a provider review and a discreet delivery — no clinic visit at any point.

What states is BetterYu available in?

BetterYu serves patients in 29 states, and we add more as coverage expands. Every case is reviewed by a licensed provider before any prescription is written.

The fastest way to confirm your state is to start the intake — it tells you immediately whether we’re available where you live.

Do I need to see a doctor in person before starting?

No. BetterYu is 100% telehealth. Your provider reviews your case from your medical intake and any records you upload — there’s no clinic visit.

If your provider decides an in-person evaluation or specific lab work is needed before prescribing, they’ll tell you in your case review.

How long does the intake and review process take?

Most patients complete intake in 10–15 minutes. Provider review is typically done within 1–3 business days, and the pharmacy ships within 2–5 business days once a prescription is issued.

From the moment you start intake to the moment your pen arrives, the typical window is about 5–10 business days.

Do I need lab work before starting?

Not always. Your provider decides whether labs are needed based on your medical history, age, and the category you’ve selected. Some protocols can begin without baseline labs; others benefit from them.

If labs are required, you’ll get clear instructions on what to order and from where.

What if my provider declines my prescription?

If your provider decides BetterYu therapy isn’t the right fit, they’ll explain why and recommend alternatives. This is the responsibility of medical care, not a sales transaction.

You are not charged for a prescription that isn’t issued.

Can I use BetterYu if I take other medications?

Tell your provider every medication and supplement you take during intake. Some drugs interact with specific therapies, and your provider screens for that before prescribing.

Don’t stop a prescribed medication on your own to start therapy — bring it up, and let your provider weigh it as part of your case.

The Pens & How They Work

What is a BetterYu pen?

A BetterYu pen is a pre-measured, single-patient injection device holding your prescribed wellness therapy. Unlike traditional vial-and-syringe prep — which means reconstituting with bacteriostatic water, measuring, and drawing each dose — the pen comes ready to use.

You dial your prescribed dose, place the pen against your skin, and click. That’s the whole routine.

Do I have to inject myself?

Yes — but the pen is designed for someone who has never injected anything in their life. The needle is small, similar to an insulin pen, and the dose is pre-set, so there’s no drawing-up or calculating. The injection takes under a minute.

Every pen ships with a clear step-by-step demo, and your provider can answer specific questions before your first dose.

Where do I inject?

Most BetterYu therapies are subcutaneous — under the skin, typically into the abdomen or upper thigh. Your protocol guide gives you the specific site and a rotation schedule.

Subcutaneous injection means no muscle penetration and minimal sensation.

How often do I inject?

It depends on the protocol. Most therapies are dosed daily or several times a week, typically in a cycle followed by a planned break.

Your provider sets the specific cadence in your case review.

What’s in each pen?

Each pen contains the prescription wellness therapy your provider selected for your category, health profile, and goals. The specifics are on your prescription.

There’s no generic “one pen fits all” — the provider chooses what’s clinically appropriate for you.

Does the injection hurt?

Most people describe it as a quick pinch. The needle is very fine — similar to an insulin pen — and the injection takes seconds.

If you’re nervous, your provider can walk you through the technique before your first dose.

Why a pen instead of a vial and syringe?

A vial-and-syringe setup requires you to reconstitute the powder with bacteriostatic water, get the concentration right, and draw each dose — a real source of dosing error and the main reason home therapy intimidates people.

The pen removes all of it: pre-measured, pre-mixed, dial-and-click.

How do I know which pen is right for me?

Every pen is prescription-only, provider-reviewed, and formulated at an FDA-regulated compounding pharmacy — you don’t have to diagnose yourself or pick anything technical.

The intake matches you to the right protocol based on your health profile and goals, and your provider confirms what’s clinically appropriate before anything is prescribed.

Performance (ELEVATE)

What is the ELEVATE pen?

ELEVATE is BetterYu’s performance pen — Better Performance. It focuses on muscle development, training adaptation, and physical output, and supports lean body composition, recovery between sessions, and sustained energy and drive.

Best for: active individuals who train consistently and want clinical support for building strength, improving performance, and recovering more effectively.

Recovery (CELL MEND)

What is the CELL MEND pen?

CELL MEND is BetterYu’s recovery pen — Better Recovery. It’s oriented around post-training and post-activity recovery: reducing soreness, supporting joint and tissue resilience, and getting you back to full readiness faster.

Best for: athletes, gym-goers, and highly active people who push hard and want to close the gap between workouts with clinical recovery support.

Can I keep training during a recovery cycle?

Usually yes — most patients keep training through a recovery cycle, sometimes with adjustments. The goal is supporting your recovery, not sidelining you.

Your provider gives you guidance based on what you’re recovering from.

Healthy Aging / Longevity (TIMELESS)

What is the TIMELESS pen?

TIMELESS is BetterYu’s healthy-aging pen — Better Aging. It’s a proactive longevity protocol focused on cellular vitality, healthy aging, skin quality, energy, and overall resilience as the body ages.

Best for: adults thinking ahead about graceful aging — not reacting to decline, but investing in cellular health and quality of life over the long term.

Weight & Body Composition (LEAN CODE / IGNITE)

What is the LEAN CODE pen?

LEAN CODE is BetterYu’s body-composition pen — Better Body Composition. It’s designed to support a favorable body composition by promoting fat balance while preserving lean muscle mass and supporting metabolic health.

Best for: people who are already reasonably active but want clinical support for optimizing their ratio of fat to lean mass — composition refinement, not pure weight loss.

What is the IGNITE pen?

IGNITE is BetterYu’s weight-management pen — Better Weight. It focuses on appetite balance, metabolic support, and sustainable progress, under provider oversight the whole way.

Best for: people working toward meaningful, sustainable weight loss who want a medically guided approach rather than a diet product or a stimulant-based solution.

Energy & Vitality (CORE CHARGE / CELL SPARK)

What is the CORE CHARGE pen?

CORE CHARGE is BetterYu’s metabolic-energy pen — Better Metabolic Energy. It targets energy at the cellular and metabolic level to support focus, stamina, and daily output, even when standard labs come back normal.

Best for: people dealing with persistent fatigue, brain fog, or flagging daily energy who haven’t found answers through conventional testing and want a functional approach.

What is the CELL SPARK pen?

CELL SPARK is BetterYu’s vitality pen — Better Vitality. It’s a broad-spectrum option supporting overall cellular function, energy, mental clarity, and resilience — the most general “feel your best” choice in the lineup.

Best for: anyone looking for a foundational vitality boost — a good starting point, or a fit for goals that don’t fall neatly into one specific category.

Can BetterYu help if my labs are normal?

Routine bloodwork measures things like thyroid, iron, and blood sugar — it doesn’t capture your full picture. Your provider reviews your history, symptoms, and goals to decide whether therapy is appropriate, even when standard labs come back normal.

If it isn’t the right fit, your provider will tell you — you’re not charged for a prescription that isn’t issued.

Skin & Restoration (GLOWE / KLOWE / RESTORE)

What is the GLOWE pen?

GLOWE is BetterYu’s radiance pen — Better Radiance. It targets skin health from the inside out — tone, texture, collagen production, and overall skin repair — to support a more refreshed, youthful appearance.

Best for: people looking to address dull, aging, or uneven skin who want a systemic approach to radiance rather than topical skincare alone.

What is the KLOWE pen?

KLOWE is BetterYu’s regeneration pen — Better Regeneration. It’s the more therapeutic skin option, going a step further than GLOWE with a focus on skin clarity, calming the look of inflammation, and tissue repair.

Best for: individuals dealing with skin inflammation, a compromised skin barrier, or anyone wanting deeper regenerative support for a balanced, resilient complexion.

What is the RESTORE pen?

RESTORE is BetterYu’s healing pen — Better Healing. It supports the body’s natural healing and tissue-repair processes at a broader level — not just skin, but overall physical resilience and recovery from everyday stress.

Best for: people who want to support their body’s repair mechanisms — whether from chronic physical demands, slow recovery, or a general need for more structural resilience.

Gut Health

What is the Gut Health pen?

BetterYu’s Gut Health category is for people who’ve cycled through probiotics, elimination diets, and FODMAP without lasting relief and want a clinical approach. It’s provider-prescribed wellness therapy managed by a licensed provider — not a supplement.

Your provider reviews your symptom history and goals and prescribes what’s clinically appropriate.

Do I need a diagnosis before starting?

No formal diagnosis is required. Your provider reviews your symptom history and goals to decide whether therapy is appropriate.

What matters is the clinical picture, not a specific label.

Do I have to change my whole diet?

You don’t have to overhaul everything you eat. Your provider may suggest dietary support alongside your therapy rather than a full elimination protocol.

The point is a supervised, clinical approach — not another restrictive diet.

Results & Timelines

How long before I feel results?

Timelines vary by category and by person, and your provider gives you a specific expectation for your protocol.

Because every case is different, BetterYu doesn’t promise a fixed result on a fixed date — your provider sets realistic expectations and tracks your progress.

How long does a cycle last?

Most protocols run in cycles followed by a planned break. Cycling, rather than indefinite use, is a common approach your provider may use depending on your therapy.

Some protocols use shorter or longer cycles — your provider sets the structure.

What happens at the end of a cycle?

You finish the dosing window, then take any planned break. Toward the end, you and your provider review how the cycle went and decide whether to repeat, adjust, or pause.

Refills follow that review — they’re not automatic.

Will I keep my results after stopping?

It depends on your therapy and your goals. Your provider explains what to expect after your specific protocol, including whether continued cycling is part of the plan.

Pricing, Refills & Ongoing Care

How much does BetterYu cost?

Pricing varies by category and is set by your provider based on your specific protocol. There are no membership fees and no hidden charges — you pay for the pen your provider prescribes.

You’ll know the cost for your protocol before anything ships.

Does insurance cover BetterYu?

Most prescription wellness therapies aren’t covered by commercial insurance, and BetterYu doesn’t bill insurance directly — patients pay out of pocket.

We provide an itemized receipt that some patients submit to an HSA or FSA; check with your plan administrator for eligibility.

How do refills work?

After your initial cycle, you and your provider review your progress. If continued therapy is appropriate, the provider issues a refill prescription.

Refills aren’t automatic — every one involves a provider check-in to make sure the protocol still fits your situation.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. BetterYu is prescription-based, so there’s no recurring plan to escape. If you decide not to refill, the relationship simply ends after your last cycle.

Is BetterYu a subscription?

BetterYu is prescription-based. Each pen is prescribed for your protocol, and refills happen only after a provider check-in — they aren’t issued automatically.

You’re not locked in: you and your provider decide at the end of each cycle whether to continue.

Your Provider & Telehealth Care

Who reviews my case?

One of BetterYu’s licensed Family Nurse Practitioners reviews your case. Katherine Gonzalez, FNP — Yale-trained, with 15+ years of primary care experience — and Justin Kitchens FNP-C lead BetterYu’s clinical team across the states we serve.

Medical oversight comes from Dr. Anthony Didato, DMD, Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a Functional Medicine-certified clinician.

Can I talk to my provider directly?

Yes. Communication runs through the patient portal (PracticeBetter). Your provider answers clinical questions in writing and can schedule a video visit when a longer conversation is the right fit.

What if my provider declines to prescribe?

If your provider decides BetterYu therapy isn’t right for you, they explain why and suggest alternatives — and you’re not charged for a prescription that isn’t issued.

That’s the responsibility of medical care, not a sales transaction.

Will I need lab work?

Not always. Your provider decides whether labs are needed based on your history, age, and category. Some protocols begin without baseline labs; others benefit from them.

If labs are required, you’ll get clear instructions.

Shipping, Storage & Privacy

How is my pen shipped?

Your pen ships from the pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging by overnight or expedited shipping. The package is discreet — no medical or wellness branding on the outside.

You’ll get a tracking notification when it ships.

How do I store my pen?

Most BetterYu pens need refrigeration between doses, and each ships with a storage guide specific to your therapy.

Brief room-temperature exposure during travel or daily handling is fine — just don’t freeze it, and don’t leave it in direct sun or a hot car.

Is my information private?

Yes. BetterYu is HIPAA-compliant. Your intake, case notes, and prescription history live in the PracticeBetter portal under HIPAA-grade security.

We don’t sell or share your personal health information, and you can turn off marketing communications anytime.

What if I move to a state where you’re not licensed?

If you move outside our licensed coverage, we won’t be able to issue new prescriptions until licensure expands there. Your provider can advise on next steps.

We track licensure expansion and notify former patients when their new state comes online.
